Tiger sales off to a brisk start WebPro News reports on the long lines of eager Tiger-buyers at Apple retail stores across the country. "They waited outside the New York Apple store patiently on Friday, as store employees spent an hour getting ready to disburse the Tiger update to customers. Some 2,000 customers passed through the New York doors between 6 and 8 pm Friday. Similar excitement was seen at other retailers across the country. Meanwhile, PC users will have to wait another 18 months for 64-bit computing and possible advanced search features to match Tiger's Spotlight desktop search function." More.
QuickTime 7 HD Gallery Apple has posted a QuickTime 7 HD gallery, which includes previews for Batman Begins and other films. The system requirements for viewing the media are rather hefty:
For 1280x720 (720p) video at 24-30 frames per second:
- 1.8 GHz PowerMac G5 or faster Macintosh computer
- At least 256 MB of RAM
- 64 MB or greater video card
- Dual 2.0 GHz PowerMac G5 or faster Macintosh computer
- At least 512 MB of RAM
- 128 MB or greater video card
