FileMaker 7 Advanced now available FileMaker has announced the immediate availability of FileMaker Server 7 Advanced, an enhanced version of FileMaker Server 7 that provides web publishing and connectivity options for managing shared solutions for desktop and web clients. The software includes simultaneous database hosting for up to 100 web-based clients and 250 desktop clients. In addition, customers can now integrate FileMaker databases with other applications using such industry standard connectivity options as XML, ODBC* and JDBC. More.

The landscape also is dotted with plenty of smaller services, including RealNetworks' Rhapsody, Roxio Inc.'s Napster and offerings from companies like Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Sony Corp.
