Apple Seen With 'Impressive' Calendar Q4 Forbes reports that Rebecca Runkle of Morgan Stanley raised the price target and maintained an "overweight" rating on Apple Computer in anticipation of a strong holiday season and continued portfolio expansion with the potential introduction of Macintosh computers based on Intel chips next year. "Apple is evolving into a growth-driven portfolio franchise," said the analyst. More.

Thieves nab $15K worth of iPods from Orem store The Utah Daily Herald reports on an iPod theft where perpetrators smashed through a glass door around 3 a.m. and ignored laptop computers in favor of $15,000 worth of iPods. "Police arrived four minutes after alarm company officials notified dispatchers, only to find glass shards and a few iPods dropped in the scramble. Three security cameras failed to capture any images of the burglars, who barely entered the store. Store owner Darren Westenhaver said the scene was all too familiar. Thieves pillaged Mac Something's Salt Lake City location three times before Westenhaver closed it and opened the Orem store." More.

Apple's Growing Army of Converts A BusinessWeek article says that Windows users are trying Macs in increasing numbers -- and it's not just a function of the iPod 'halo effect.' "Sure, the iPod has its halo effect. But there are other reasons -- disparate and difficult to track -- that are encouraging a small-but-measurable migration away from Windows to the Mac.
