Motorola plant on hold Motorola has put its plans to commence production at a $1.9 billion chip manufacturing facility in China on hold. The company said originally mass production at its new plant in the northern coastal city of Tianjin would begin in the first half of 2002. That date has now been moved back to the second half of the year, with company spokspersons blaming a downturn in the semiconductor industry for the delay. More.
