Network Security Updater may update files in Trash
Network Security Updater may update files in Trash
Regarding the Microsoft Office Network Security updater patch (see also previous coverage), Todd Hunter writes:
"If you install Microsoft v. X on a non-startup partition and then run the Entourage Hotmail Updater, the updater will move the old Office X files into the .Trashes folder located on the non-startup volume and not delete them. When you next run the Network Security Updater, it mistakenly tries to update the files that are in the Trash. This isn't a big deal since you can click on the 'Select Folder' button and select the correct Office X folder. However, if you aren't paying attention, the Updater may install (or attempt to install) in the wrong location."
Presumably, if you empty the Trash before installing the update, the problem can also be avoided.
