MechWarrior2 tip

Contrary to a previous report, Ian Taylor found that MechWarrior2 worked fine under HFS Plus. Deleting MechWarrior's Preferences file, updating to version 1.2 and/or rebuilding the Desktop may help if a problem does occur. Ian then adds this interesting tidbit:

Activision made an update of MW2 to V1.3 but never released it to the general public. The V1.3 version of MW2 is available in a package called MacAction Games. The CD carries the designation V1.4 but installs V1.3. It fixes some bugs and enables some cheat code items that used to require a Disk Editor to fix. The Activision version that is still available at many stores will be version V1.2 (or earlier!). BTW Activision Support will deny any knowledge of this V1.4/1.3 release.
