MacInTax 98: startup freeze; slow speed?

Startup Freeze Don Rindfleisch found that his Mac freezes at startup after installing MacInTax 98. He claims that many other users are reporting the same or similar problem on the MacInTax User-to-User Forums. Some have isolated Apple Menu Items as the source of the conflict. Disabling AMO (or sometimes simply deleting its preferences file) eliminates the freeze.

Richard Glantz found that MacInTax 98 was "ponderously slow when in EasyStep mode." He too notes similar reports by others on Intuit's forums. Richard adds: "A Intuit Product Support representative informed me that they are aware of this problem on certain processors. She recommended I increase my memory allocation to 15Mb."
