MacBook Pro (#2): SuperDrive apparently not dual-layer; S-Video out gone; No internal modem

The Superdrive on the new Mac Book Pro has been downgraded in comparison to those on the Revision E Powerbook G4s; the maximum write speed is now only 4x, and Dual-layer DVDs cannot be written anymore.

S-Video Out gone Apple has apparently also dropped S-Video out capabilities on the new notebook, necessitating purchase of a separate DVI to S-Video adapter.

Modem gone In addition, the MacBook Pro is the first Apple notebook in recent memory to not include an internal modem. Apple started this trend with the iMac G5s introduced in October, and offers a USB modem for users who require it.

As noted yesterday, Apple also dropped FireWire 800 capabilities from the new notebooks.
