Mac OS X reminder: Do not rename "Library," "Music," or other user folders
A note from MacFixIt reader Tom Kalikajaros notes the consequences of renaming the "Library," "Music," or other user-level system folders.
"I had a client that renamed all the default folders is their homedirectory. Folders like 'Library' and 'Music' where changed to 'My Library'and 'My Music'. On next restart OS X created new folders with default names. The preferences went back to defaults, photos were missing from iPhoto, music missing from iTunes and email/appointments for Entourage had disappeared."
As noted by Knowledge Base article #61522, the damage can be reversed by draggin the new Library folder to the Trash and renaming the old folder.
