Mac OS X 10.1.1 update is out, available from the Software Update panel and from this separate download. It's a 14.4 MB download. (Thanks, Patricio Mason, Brian Frost and others). Apple states:

"The 10.1.1 update delivers improvements for many USB and FireWire devices, including support for additional digital cameras, and overall improvements to CD and DVD burning. Enhancements have been made to AFP, SMB, and WebDAV networking, as well as improved support for printing. This update also delivers better application compatibility, including updates to the Finder and Mail application. In addition, hardware accelerated video mirroring has been enabled for the new PowerBook G4."

Installing OS X 10.1.1 and AirPort 2.0 from Software Update When you launch Software Update, you will likely see both of the 10.1.1 and AirPort 2.0 updates listed (unless you already installed the AirPort update; see today's main page for more details on AirPort 2.0). However, only the 10.1.1 update will be checked by default. You should probably leave it that way and just install the 10.1.1 update at first. Then, after restarting, run Software Update again and install the AirPort update.

Otherwise, if you enable AirPort and try to install both updates at the same time, you may find that the AirPort update stalls at the "optimizing" stage. At least that is what happened to us when we tried it (as well as to reader Nicholas Ashbaugh). We suspect this may be an issue only if both updates require a restart.

If this does happen to you: Force Quit Software Update and restart. When you get back to the desktop, it should correctly list OS X 10.1.1 as installed. Now run Software Update again. It should again list the AirPort 2.0 upgrade and this time it should install without a problem. Otherwise, you could run the AirPort update from the AirPort 2.0 for Mac OS X separate download.

Base Station 3.82 By the way, when we ran the AirPort Admin Utility 2.0 for the first time, we got a message that said: "A newer version (3.82) of base station software is available. Click Upload to install it now." We did. It worked.
