Mac OS 9 has problems mounting certain types of CDs?

CNET staff
Dave Laffitte writes that he had some film developed and took advantage of a Kodak coupon to get the pictures back on CD too. This CD also comes with a library of Life Magazine photos. When he tried to mount the CD on his PowerBook G3 running Mac OS 9, it kept accessing the CD but never mounted He eventually had to use the eject button to get it out. The same CD worked fine on a Mac 7200 running Mac OS 8.5.1. Kodak tech support told him that it was a problem with the Apple CD driver in Mac OS 9 and the particular type of CD used for the photos.

I don't know if Kodak is right or not but, coincidentally, I had a similar problem the other day: A CD of clip art mounted fine in my 7500 running Mac OS 8.6 but not in my iMac DV running Mac OS 9. All other CDs I have tried have mounted fine in the iMac.
