iSub distortion and Apple Audio Extension William Alworth kept getting distorted sound from his iSub (running Mac OS 9.0.4 and latest updates). He found that disabling the Apple Audio Extension remedied the problem. "However, the iSub then acts a little differently. The subwoofer slider goes all the way to the top and the volume curves are a little different. When increasing the volume, the subwoofer gets much louder than the high end." The good news continues with 6.0.4 update. For example, Bill Fowler writes: "AppleWorks 6.0.4 seems to be a great improvement. I was almost ready to return to MS Word, but now I will retain AppleWorks as my primary word processor." Another reader adds: "I recently updated to 6.0.4 and all of the problems I had been having with AppleWorks are gone! No more slow launches, locked out Web connections, or slow redraws.
