Installer Update 1.0 is released

CNET staff
Installer Update 1.0 is now available via the OS X Software Update. It states: "This update delivers improved support for installing software updates and is required for any future Mac OS X updates."

A look at the list of files installed shows three updated/new files:

  • Installer in the Utilities folder
  • SystemVersion.plist file in /System/Library/CoreServices
  • Installation.framework file in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks

Perhaps this update addresses the problem with the Installer application, thus responding to our request in the item that follows.

Update: The Installer Update is now also available for download from the Web. Installing the Update changes the Build number of OS X 10.1 to 5L21.
