iDVD 6.0 (#5): Problems with burning 16:9 aspect ratio DVDs; "Image Incomplete" errors

MacFixIt reader Lynn Trusal reports an issue with burning DVDs in the 16:9 aspect ratio format from iDVD 6.0.

Lynn writes:

"Using iDVD 6.0 to burn a DVD I kept getting an 'image incomplete' message after the rendering process was completed and the DVD appeared to burn but was unsuccessful. After talking with Apple technical support 3 nights in a row, we tried everything related to software including reinstalling OS 10.4.4 and iDVD 6.0 but to no avail. I was able to burn a DVD created with still images using the iMagic option within DVD. I was also able to burn a DVD successfully that had been created with earlier versions of iDVD.

"Only when I changed the theme I was using from a 16:9 ratio to the conventional 3:4 ratio was I successful. I have not yet tried other themes in a 16:9 ratio for a wide screen TV to see if it was specific to just one such theme. I was using a new quad G5 and Mac OS X 10.4.4 with iLife 6.0. It is possible this is a bug in one or more of the new 16:9 ratio themes that came with iDVD 6.0."

On a related note, if you are getting "image incomplete" errors when attempting to burn a DVD and the aspect ratio is not at fault, try looking in the "Project Info" window and make sure that you disc size and layer settings (single or dual) are appropriate to your drive model.
