Stuck at "Loading themes" Several users have reported that iDVD 6.0 stalls on launch at the "Loading Themes" phase.

The problem seems to be user-account specific in most cases. In other words, logging into a different (newly created) account and attempting to launch iDVD works without issue. As such, we've identified a potential, somewhat convoluted solution.
  1. Create a new user account (using the button in the "Accounts" pane of System Preferences)
  2. Log into the new user account.
  3. Launch iDVD 6.0 -- it should open correctly; quit it
  4. Move all of the iDVD themes out of ~/Library/Application Support/iDVD (this is the Library folder inside the current user's home folder) and into a place where they can be accessed by both accounts -- such as the root level of the startup volume.
  5. Log back into your normal user account.
  6. Drag all of the files you moved in step 4 to the ~/Library/Application Support/iDVD (your normal user account's Library folder), confirming that you would like to replace the files when prompted.
  7. Re-launch iDVD 6.0 in your current account and check for persistence of the crashes.

Crashes when attempting to burn DVD Some users have reported repeated crashes when attempting to burn DVDs from iDVD 6.0.

In some cases, this issue can be worked around by using the "Save As..." option in iDVD then burning the disc with Disk Utility or another application.

"All" themes option causes crashes Meanwhile, some users report problems when using the "All themes" selection during the creation of a new project.

One reader writes:

"In iDVD 6.0, if you open a new project, and go to the pull-down menu for themes, you will find choices for 6.0 themes, 5.0 themes, 4.0 themes, etc. If you select the "All" option, iDVD immediately quits. Every time. I have experienced some other issues that I am trying to nail down, but this one is 100 percent repeatable on my first generation dual 2.0 PowerMac G5 running Mac OS X 10.4.4."
