HP warning: too early, too often Charles Maurer notes that the HP DeskJet 970Cse warns of an empty ink tank long before the tank is actually empty. While this can be a good thing (offering you plenty of time to make sure you have a replacement tank), it has its downside. The problem is that the message appears every time you try to print until you replace the tank. Charles adds: "Every time we print, printing stops until we stop work, go to the Finder, and click OK. The driver provides no control to shut this warning off." The future of Internet Explorer We keep getting email asking about or informing us of a rumor, previously noted on MacInTouch, that Microsoft is halting development of further versions of Internet Explorer. The only official word we have is from a Microsoft PR representative, who said: "The IE team is working hard on the next version of IE, IE 5 for OS X, which will be available the day OS X is available. Microsoft recently went though a reorganization, which is common at Microsoft and in the industry. Not only does it keep Microsoft competitive, but it keeps workers happy to be challenged with new projects. In the recent reorg, the IE team will continue its work on IE, and will also be working to develop the next generation of Personal TV offerings at WebTV." Trying to read between the lines, we note that there is no mention of work on IE beyond the version for Mac OS X. If we hear more, we'll post it.
