New and noteworthy from the MacFixIt Forums:

Photoshop 5.5 crashes with Twain scanning A posting describes crashes when importing to Photoshop 5.5 via Twain scan from an Epson 1200C scanner. The problem is not with Photoshop, but with the Twain driver. A reply quotes an explanation received from Epson: "The Twain driver in question is not compatible with SCSI Manager 4.3 which is part of System 8.6." A work-around is suggested. Excel 5.0 and Palm MacPac crash conflict A thread describes a conflict between Excel 5.0 and Palm MacPac. With Palm MacPac installed, quitting Excel would lead to a crash.

Word 98 file corruption on large documents A posting describes "frequent file corruption when creating documents using Microsoft Word 98. This occurs when the file contains either: (a) many graphics or (b) many tables and/or multiple form fields. A reply claims that Microsoft is aware of this problem (although no fix is imminent). It quotes a list of work-arounds that Microsoft suggested. The first one is to "Save the file as RTF." Que USB CD-RW drive problems A posting described an inability to burn a CD with the Que USB CD-RW drive. A reply from Que suggests that the driver is very fussy about what media it accepts. Another reply points to a negative review of the drive.
