Former Palm exec re-joins Apple ZDNN reports that longtime software developer Steve Sakoman, a former Palm and Be executive, has rejoined Apple Computer as a vice president. "Sakoman, who recently left his post as chief product officer at Palm software unit PalmSource, will report to Apple Senior Vice President Avie Tevanian, an Apple representative confirmed Tuesday. Sakoman, who most recently helped lead development of the Palm operating system, worked on the Newton handheld project, among other things during his previous stint at Apple." More.

Apple AirPort Extreme Base review 802.11 Planet has a review of AirPort Extreme, stating "Apple makes the leap to 11g with its stylish hardware, and of course dares to be different by leaving out a lot of the features we've come to expect while adding a few we wish were regular in all Wi-Fi hardware." Your next PC may be in the living room Taking a page from Apple Computer's iMac handbook, Taiwan computer manufacturer Shuttle Computer is hoping to turn PCs into a living-room accessory with a sleek design and a new coat of paint. "So instead of trying to get consumers to upgrade, the idea is to sell them a less-powerful second PC for use as a home entertainment center to surf the Internet, look at photographs, play music or watch movies." CNET on PowerBook delays CNET has chimed in with some more information on Apple's inability to ship the 17-inch PowerBook G4. "When Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the world's largest laptop at January's Macworld Expo, he promised that the machines would be available in February. However, early customers--even some who ordered the day the giant laptop was introduced--say they are still waiting." More.
