Final Cut Pro 3 follow-up

Replying to yesterday's item on Final Cut Pro 3:

Ned Soltz recommends that FCP users check out the 2-pop Web site (he is a columnist there). "It is dedicated to Final Cut Pro in particular and digital production in general. Another worthwhile learning tool you might note is the Intelligent Assistant for Final Cut Pro, a stand-alone helper application for OS 9 (soon for OS X).

Philip Sherwood adds this troubleshooting note: "I have had trouble batch capturing long clips in Final Cut Pro, especially under OS X. I tried an hour long clip and it wouldn't work. Message boards confirm that others have the same issue. Suggestions ranged from splitting it into smaller parts (captured the first 10 minute segment and nothing else) to trying it in OS 9. I was able to capture the segments in OS 9 (didn't try the hour long version in OS 9 yet). I was then able to use my project without alteration in OS X and OS 9."

Update: Dan Wyatt replies: "Not being able to capture long clips is just a short coming of NLE's (non-linear editing software) in general. It's not even recommended to capture clips over 15 min on the reigning champ of NLE's: Avid."
