Facebook creates six billionaires, with Zuckerberg worth more than Steve Jobs

Mark Zuckerberg is one of six men to have become billionaires thanks to Facebook. This year's Forbes rich list reckons the Zuckermeister is worth more than Steve Jobs.

Six men have become billionaires thanks to Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg leads five founders and investors in the site to appear in the Forbes list of the world's billionaires -- and Zuckerberg even has more money than Apple boss Steve Jobs.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates is now at number two after donating billions to charitable causes through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He was replaced after a long stint as the world's richest man by Mexican telecoms magnate Carlos Slim.

There are now 1,210 billionaires on the Forbes list, 200 of which earned their top hat and monocle this year. 413 Scrooge McDucks come from the US, 332 Richie Riches are from Asia, and 300 Jed Clampetts keep their fortunes under mattresses in Europe. Property mogul Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor is the Mr Burns of Britain, with a net worth of £8bn.

The Facebook billionaires are founders Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin and Dustin Moskovitz, whose falling-out formed the basis for the Oscar-winning film The Social Network. 26-year-old Moskovitz is the youngest person on the list. They're joined by Sean Parker -- played by Justin Timberlake in the movie version -- and investors Peter Thiel and Yuri Milner.

Zuckerberg leads the Facebook six with £8bn. Fresh from being immortalised in cinematic form, Facebook's blank-eyed boss has been immortalised in action-figure form. Zuckerdoll -- sorry, 'Poking Inventor' -- has been created by the makers of the infamous banned action figure of Apple boss Steve Jobs -- sorry, 'Pineapple boss SJ'.

Steve Jobs is worth around £3.7bn. Other tech billionaires in the top 50 include Oracle boss Larry Ellison, Google's Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos, Michael Dell, and Microsoft's Steve Ballmer.
