Epson printer conflicts: a follow-up

Navigator/Launcher conflict Regarding our report last time of the possible return of a conflict between Epson Launcher and Navigator 4.06: Janet Darling informs us that Epson just issued a 5.1AE update for the Stylus Color 800, available from the UK Download Library. (Epson's US web site does not yet list this for the 800, but does list a driver with that name for Stylus Photo printers). It solved the Epson Launcher/Navigator conflict for Janet.
Update: Jeff Moss claims that the file on the UK site is mislabeled. "After downloading the file, you'll find that the drivers in that package are not 5.1AE but version 5.04E from October 7, 1997." I will investigate this further.

Meanwhile, Ken Rohland reports that the reported problem occurred even if he did not have Navigator open to a blank page (which is a suggested work-around).

FileMaker 3 conflict Janet adds: "Unfortunately, the 5.1AE update does not solve the FileMaker Pro 3.0 problem (covered here months ago), which is that it is impossible to print from this version of FileMaker using either Epson 800 or 850 software - the computer crashes if you try!" Jim Russell confirms this. Both Epson and FileMaker told Jim that they were not working on any fix. The main solution appears to be to upgrade to FileMaker Pro 4.
