DiskWarrior, PlusOptimizer and Mac OS X

CNET staff
Joe Muscara (of Alsoft) sent us this information regarding using DiskWarrior and PlusOptimizer with Mac OS X disks (see also this previous item):

Not only is DiskWarrior safe to use on Mac OS X disks, it will fix any problems with iNodes, even better than Apple's built-in Disk Utility.

If you try to use DiskWarrior or PlusOptimizer in the Classic environment, they simply will not let you do anything with disks that are available to both Classic and Mac OS X. They will work with any disks that are available only to Classic. There's no chance of either program creating problems with your disks just because you are really running Mac OS X.

Long filenames are no problem for DiskWarrior and PlusOptimizer. When you are started from Mac OS 9.x (your own system or the DiskWarrior CD), both of our utilities will do what they do best, safely and completely. All of us at Alsoft using Mac OS X run DiskWarrior and PlusOptimizer on our Mac OS X disks regularly to maximize disk performance.

We enthusiastically recommend DiskWarrior and PlusOptimizer for use on all Mac OS X extended disks.
