Descent 3 demo problems: a follow-up (and a Tomb Raider problem report)

CNET staff
Regarding our previous reports on problems with running the Descent 3 demo, and the OpenGL 1.1.2 version initially included with the demo:
John VanKammen found that his multiple monitors problem was fixed with second release of the demo. He adds: "I left the OpenGL 1.1.2 drivers installed from the original demo and have found no problems whatsoever."

Clint Davis had problems with the second release of the demo (the game would always hang just after the "Prepare for Descent..." screen came up) until he obtained the OpenGL 1.1.2 software that had been dropped from the second release. After that "Descent launched and played flawlessly."

Another reader with a similar problem contacted Graphic Simulations and was told that they have a "possible fix for this." It has not yet been released but expect it soon.

Tomb Raider and Open GL And in a related matter, Ken Dobyns writes: "Tomb Raider III does not recognize the Rage Pro chip under OpenGL in my Beige G3. This forces the program to use software rendering. I have tried the latest 4.0.1 version ATI drivers with no luck." We have not had other reports of this as yet.
