ATI VR 128 problem with Mac 8500?

Wes Palmer writes: "I received my VR128 card last week. After installing it in my 8500 and plugging in my AppleVision 750, the monitor wouldn't power up. At each reboot, it would come on for a second or two, then go back off. If I used the AppleVision Mac/VGA adapter instead of the ATI one, it would work but would only be recognized as generic VGA - I lose all the monitor adjustments, recalibration, etc. ATI tech support reported they have received other reports of this, but only on 8500's, and are trying to track it down. They said one thing that seemed to work was turning the monitor off for a few seconds and back on. That didn't work for me."

Update: At least one user reports having no problems with this combo.
