AsantéTalk Ethernet to LocalTalk bridge problem confirmed: a follow-up

Regarding our item last time on AsantéTalk Ethernet to LocalTalk bridge, we have had several reader replies. Here are the highlights:
David Poiron confirms: "I had the same problems printing to our HP 6MP with the bridge from a Quadra 605 in our office. I got so fed up I installed an Ethernet card."

Ken Goff writes: "I have an AsantéTalk Ethernet to LocalTalk bridge for connecting my HP 6MP LaserJet to a 3 computer network. For some time I've been plagued with my G3 running OS 8.6 not remembering what printer was chosen. Error -43. I solved it by taking care to turn on the printer at the same time I boot up my G3, rather than after booting is over. During communication with Asante, I was told it was due to a bug in the Mac OS."

Adam Glick adds: "A client has been struggling with a G3/BW, a beige G3 and a Power Mac 6500 with the same Asante product and same LaserWriter 4/600. If the Asante was unplugged from LocalTalk all was fine (except the G3/BW couldn't print obviously), plugging it in caused chaos. My solution: I replaced it with a Farallon's iPrint."
