Apple executive testifies at Microsoft trial

As reported in avariety of news sources (such as the Washington Post): Apple's Avadis Tevanian testified at the Microsoft antitrust trial that "a team of Microsoft negotiators told Apple in mid-May that if the browser issue wasn't resolved to Microsoft's satisfaction, Microsoft would no longer support Microsoft Office for Mac." This is how Internet Explorer came to be the default browser for the Mac OS.

More ominous, Tevanian claimed that Microsoft attempted to block QuickTime's acceptance in the Windows market by "taking steps to ensure that QuickTime would not run reliably under Windows." Microsoft officials denied this (what did you expect?).
