Apple confirms Toast extension as cause of 301 error TIL article #25192 confirms our previous report that the Toast CD Reader extension can cause a 301 error message to appear when trying to use the Apple DVD Player - even on a Mac that has a DVD-ROM drive installed. Illustrator 9.0.1 fixes Curves bug Paul Ranson reports that Illustrator 9.0.1 fixes the bug he reported last summer, concerning a placement problem with the Curves adjustment layer. Problem with play/export of iMovie 2 files Doug Mitchell found that, when trying to play back or export an iMovie 2 file (especially a large file), iMovie 2 would stall with a message that the "disk responded slowly." The disk in question is a 20GB Maxtor internal drive running at 7200 rpm. Doug adds: "Virtual memory is off and Energy Saver is disabled. I am running with only the base 9.0.4 extensions on and 140MB of memory assigned to the program (192MB total memory). The computer is a B&W G3." An Apple Support Discussions thread includes several other users with the same complaint. Update: Michael Bristol replies: "We had a similar problem with one of our clients FireWire PowerBooks. Everything else on the computer worked fine, except the importing and exporting in iMovie 2. We ended up replacing the drive and everything was fine." PowerBook problems with DVD-RAM discs A report on the PowerBook Source claims that DVD-RAM discs may not be able to mount on at least some PowerBook G3s. For what it's worth, we tried it on our FireWire PowerBook and the disc mounted just fine. Multicountry version of Modem Updater Apple has released a multicountry version of Apple Modem Updater 2.0. Unfortunately, the files appear to be temporarily missing in action. If you click on one of the links to download the file, you get a "file not found" error.
