Apple acknowledges MacBook Pro high-pitched buzzing noise

CNET staff

We previously reported on an issue where some MacBook Pros emit a high-pitched buzzing noise that emanates from underneath the keyboard. Note that this issue is separate from the widespread "processor whine" problem [see articles 1, 2 and 3].

This buzzing noise is sometimes accompanied by vibration, and gives the impression that a fan or other component is rubbing up against another component.

Apple has now acknowledged this issue in a Knowledge base article that states simply:

"If your MacBook Pro (15-inch) emits a high-pitched buzzing sound, please contact AppleCare for service."
