Another Palm Tungsten Sync workaround; Sony Clie tip

Mark Stone offers another tip for users having problems syncing their Palm Tungsten handheld devices under Mac OS X 10.2.3.

  1. Select the HotSync program from the Launcher (don't just press the
  2. HotSync button on the cradle)
  3. Change the connection from 'Local' to 'Modem' in the HotSync program
  4. Change it back to 'Local'
  5. Press the HotSync icon (red and blue icon) on the Palm screen
  6. HotSync starts successfully

Jose Lopez offers some more tips for successful synchronization using the Palm Tungsten, and Sony's various Clie models.

"1. Always connect the HotSync USB Cradle directly to the Mac's USB port. Connecting the cradle to a USB hub will give unpredictable HotSync results. The Mac has only 2 built-in USB ports and if you have lots of USB devices connected through a USB hub, connect the keyboard to the hub and use the other built-in USB port for the HotSync cradle.

"2. For some reason, installing the Palm Desktop software for the first time on a Mac already running OS 10.2.3 will result in an inability to HotSync. Users that have already installed the Palm Desktop on OS 10.2.2 or lower and have upgraded to OS 10.2.3 will not encounter HotSync problems."
