Palm marks 10,000th program

Handheld maker Palm marked on Tuesday the release of the 10,000th third-party software application for the Palm operating system. The 10,000th one--Novell's GroupWise 6 Web-clipping application--is available on Palm's software Web site. Despite Palm's announcement, various pages on the Web site tout the existence of either 8,000 or 9,000 applications.

The 10,000 milestone doesn't include the Palm Reader eBook titles, the company said.
