Palm hooks up with HarperCollins

Palm has signed a deal with HarperCollins Publishers to distribute e-books through Palm Digital Media, a publisher and distributor of e-books for handheld computers. The companies said that among the e-books offered will be works by Geoffrey Moore, who has written books on high-tech selling, investing and strategy such as "Crossing the Chasm," "Inside the Tornado" and "The Gorilla Game." Other titles will include Mario Puzo's "The Family," Clive Barker's "Coldheart Canyon" and Nobel Prize winner Gao Xingjian's "Soul Mountain."

The companies said users of Palms and Pocket PC-based devices will be able to purchase and download the books at the Palm Web site. Palm has an e-book reader application, dubbed the Palm Reader, that runs on Palm and Pocket PC-based handhelds.
