What looks like the successor to the LG Voyager has apparently shown up as leaked photos on HowardForums. The LG VX9600, or the LG Versa, can be either a touch-screen phone or one with a QWERTY keyboard. Yes, apparently the touch-screen handset comes with a detachable QWERTY keyboard. There are also plans for other detachable modules, like a game controller pad, speakers, and maybe even a Wi-Fi module.

No word on the pricing and availability of this mix-and-match handset, but this sneak peek tells us this is one handset we'll want to keep an eye on.

thats so lame! it has the lame-o VZW UI built for 80 year olds and the fact that you'd ahve to carry "modules?" ***... Its called portability for a reason... well maybe the cool person who gets this phone can carry their modules in their pink zebra striped fanny pack!

the attachments are optional, everyone has different needs, its better than then making all the decisions for you *cough* apple *cough* and im pretty sure Verizon hasn't been around for 80 years...

most people don't know wat they want,
this might look like a feature you need but once you start to use it
it's going to be impractical IMO

Just like the G1 , the keyboard looks cool,
but constantly sliding it open even for basic test input is kinda lame

Touchscreen keyboards r the future !
Which is why Apple will never include a keyboard on their device !

They made a product that can be multiple things for multiple audiences. This phone, for one, combines the goods of the dare (expansive touchscreen, nice interface) with the goods of the voyager (fantastic keyboard) with goods of the original VX8300 (decent speakers) with the goods of a more high-end phone or smartphone (wi-fi). Four birds with one stone. I think this is a smart move. There are a ton of different audiences out there right now, and by doing this a bunch of demographics are checked off. Hell, maybe they could even make a module for those 80-year-olds that has huge buttons and loads a simple menu system on the phone (a la jitterbug).

saw the versa this evening at my vzw store ... personally, I thought it was awesome! smaller than either the dare or the voyager it was easy to navigate and see the screen. it may not be for everyone but i like the fact that you have the option of carrying it solo (like the dare) or snapping it back in the case to use as you would the voyager ( i have both the dare and the voyager and like them both) to me it's the best of both worlds!

I just traded in my voyager for the versa - quite a few differences? I love the smaller, lighter size. I don?t particularly like the bronze - would prefer black. Hate the brown background on some screens that I can?t change. The Voyager had stereo speakers and these sound terrible in comparison. But overall I like the internet interface better, the multitude of favorites and shortcuts, and the fact that I can now charge on my computer with a USB! That?s HUGE. Automatic orientation is nice, kinda ?I-phoney?, the display seems a LOT sharper. Just got it yesterday but I likee.
