iTunes discounts Grammy-winning albums

Apple Computer's iTunes Music Store is having a sale on albums with Grammy-winning songs, the company said Monday. All albums sold through iTunes that include an award-winning track can be downloaded for $2 less than their original price. This brings most of the albums down to $7.99, according to the company, which rarely discounts music. iTunes rival MSN Music had a separate Grammy-related promotional campaign last week, allowing customers to download free music for a limited period.

Also available for download on Apple's music store will be a special version of The Beatles' "Across the Universe," recorded live at this year's awards show, featuring Bono, Stevie Wonder, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys and Brian Wilson. Apple plans to donate all proceeds from the 99 cent download to Southeast Asia tsunami relief efforts.
