NCSA Mosaic: Authors Marc Andreessen and Eric Brin (1993)
Mosaic, initially the project of a half-dozen students at the University of Illinois National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), was the first browser used by a wide, nonacademic audience. Its features would prove the model for the most popular later browsers. Note the buttons at the bottom of the interface and a few menu items that later disappeared in Netscape's version.
