eBay opens shop in Poland

Online auction giant eBay has set up shop in Poland, the company announced on Friday. People in the Eastern European nation now can use a dedicated Web site to do online trading using the Polish currency, the zloty. Citing figures from market researcher IDC, eBay says business-to-consumer e-commerce in that country is expanding rapidly. It's expected to jump nearly 400 percent over the next three years, from $319 million to $1.2 billion.

Earlier this week, eBay reported first-quarter net income of $256.3 million, or 19 cents per share, and revenue of $1.03 billion.

eBay messed up in Poland
Judging from the discussion on eBay's U.S. boards, eBay not only
didn't provide a full set of features to their Polish site, but they
also insulted everybody at the press conference by assuming
that Poland is unsophisticated and new to online auctions. In
fact, they have a thriving online auction site called Allegro.

Polish ebay users ask worldwide ebay users for help
We hope international ebay community will help us to create a professional ebay.pl. We ask everybody to send posts and ask what is going on with Polish ebay. In 72 hours Polish listed only 48.000 auctions due to very poor possibilities of Polish ebay. Polish Power Sellers who are selling on a Polish auction Allegro would list 250.000 auctions if we had a platform like in Holland or Switzerland. There is no contact with Polish ebay administration, nobody replys questions. Users are left without any help.
