A Wii remote for PlayStation 3? That appears to be exactly what video game accessory maker Blaze had in mind when it conceived of the PS3 Motion Freedom 3D controller.
With a design most likely lifted from Nintendo's book, the new 3D motion-sensing device bears a striking resemblance to the Wii remote right down to its form factor. The key difference is the Motion Freedom 3D's suite of PS3-centric controls, ranging from the PlayStation's signature cross, square, triangle, and circle buttons to the analog stick.
According to Blaze, this hybrid concoction has been ergonomically designed and will give gamers complete control. The only problem is the lack of news on pricing and availability in the company's press release, so there's no telling when you can give it a go.

Back at CES 2009, a relatively nonexistent gaming presence was rescued by the Nyko Wand, a third-party Wii remote control that promised a complete overhaul of the Nintendo original. Most exciting of all was the device's Trans-Port technology, which allows for button commands to be transferred through the Nunchuk port at the base of the remote.
Now that Nyko has released the Wand, we're glad to see some of the improvements over the Nintendo Wii remote, but a few design flaws and unanswered operational abilities dampen the device's potential.
Check out our full review of the Nyko Wand to see whether it's a legitimate replacement over the Nintendo original.

Nintendo has just lifted the veil on a new accessory for the Nintendo Wii remote control. The Wii MotionPlus adapter will attach to the bottom of the Wii remote and give the player a more accurate sense of control by better measuring movements in a 3D space.
Sounds like this could be a blessing for those first-person-shooter games where the control may have been off a step or two. We'll have more on MotionPlus and when you can expect a review soon. Now, here's the press release:
Nintendo introduces the Wii MotionPlus
July 14, 2008
Nintendo's upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player's arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo's commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.
