Tentacle-like showerhead looks ready to pounce

Vado Sculpture (Credit: Vado)

Just how many ways can you get wet? Six, if U.K.-based bathroom brassware maker Vado has its way with the Sculpture--a flexible tentacle-like showerhead that lets you project water spouts in six different directions.

Of course, what you end up with is limited only by your creativity and how deep your pocket is. The contemporary Sculpture can be mounted on the wall or ceiling and comes with a 12-year guarantee (check with Vado for pricing and availability).

Of course, given the amount of water you might be using here, the Sculpture could make an interesting companion piece for these eco-conscious shower curtains.

Vampiric nerdlings will cower at your floating Bluetooth speakers

Sounds like the future...

(Credit: ChinaVasion)

While all those pale suckers are indoors playing around with their videogames, you could be enjoying the summer heat, lounging in a pool and aquadancing to your favorite jams with Elima, a Bluetooth speaker designed to make your summer days even brighter.

This little orb packs in a pair of 2-watt speakers on both sides, providing you with stereo sound while it floats around in your pool. You can connect any Bluetooth device with A2DP/AVRCP and stream music from up to 30 feet away. If a call comes in while you're lounging, the Elima will automatically pause your track and pick up the call through the speakers, and all the controls you need to change tracks and lower/raise the volume are seated directly on top of the circle.

Get one now for $40 and don't forget to show off your golden tan to your milky roommates as you walk in the door.

More pics after the jump.

The 404 348: Where we need a Doctor's opinion

by Wilson Tang

Aside from some technical difficulties today and a giant bug bite, we've got a great show featuring all three of your favorite Web celebrities. Before we get to the stories, we want to remind everyone of The 404 logo contest and of our appearance on our buddy Clayton Morris' FoxNews.com's Strategy Room to talk about all the good tech, video game-related goodness at 2 p.m. EST.

(Credit: Jasper Engels)

On today's show, find out ways that kids now are using abbreviations in text messages to hide things from their parents. Apparently, "RU/18" is something that kids these days are getting on their cell phones. Also, Pfizer is giving away free three-month supplies of Viagra and Lipitor because of the recession, but only if you were on the drugs before you got laid off. We hope Justin isn't itching to get fired for this deal.

In regard to a story about China shutting down a sex-themed park, Wilson gives us way too much information about "the talk" with his mom when he was 15. Justin and Jeff learned everything from "Sesame Street." Speaking of more things naughty, there is a new version of "Star Trek" called "Star Trix", and we can't really say much more about it other than it's totally NSFW.

Finally, showers make you more productive at work. Just be sure to watch out for peephole-size openings at work. Be sure to write in at the404 [at] cnet [dot] com. We'd love to see more of your submissions for our logo contest. See you on Tuesday after the Memorial Day break!

Shower curtains for the eco-minded masochist

Eco shower curtain

Enough to make you swear off showers?

(Credit: Elisabeth Buecher)

Cue "Psycho" music when it comes to using Elisabeth Beucher's Green Warrior Shower Curtains. Beucher--part of the London-based textiles collective Puff & Flock--is one sadistic dame whose style philosophy of "design for pain and for our own good" aims to awaken people to the consciousness of their behavior and give them limits. Such as this shower curtain that slowly inflates (strangles?) around you while you shower, with the aim of trapping overly leisurely bathers. Claustrophobics need not apply.

Another take is a shower curtain embedded with spikes (picture after the jump) that will slowly inflate (via what claims to be an energy-efficient air pump) the longer you bathe. Overstay your welcome and you'll be spitted, though seriously these look more like ticklish tentacles than painful skewers.

Of course, there's always the concern that some people may get to like this too much. Still, either green-conscious shower curtain would assuredly ensure that family members take shorter baths in the morning, so you can get to work on time.

Gadgettes 115: OMG, More Robots Episode

by Jason Howell

We're not trying to give robots too much power over our lives, but let's face it...there are some things that we'd rather not have to do, and our robot underlings would be perfect fill-ins. That is, of course, until they become self aware and jump onto our faces until we surrender to their immense robotic power. But that won't happen for a long time, so don't worry about that just yet.

Travel tech: Because you can carry only so much

by Andrew Lim

(Credit: Crave UK)

To ensure you get some of the best technology coverage in the world, Crave travels quite a bit--which means we regularly get to test stuff out on the road. But after all this testing, what do we think is the best all-round travel kit out there?

Before we delve into the world of travel-friendly tech, let's start with the bag you'll need to carry all this gear around in. Our gadget bag of choice has to be the Crumpler Warm Shower laptop and photo bag (pictured here).

We love the cozily named Warm Shower because it has all the compartments we need to store our laptop, dSLR, and other gadgets safely, and most importantly it's comfortable to wear. Our only niggle with it is that there could be a few more external pockets for storing bits and pieces that you need quick access to. Click here to see more gear for the road.
