Regular readers of this space may know that we've developed a mild fascination with drums, especially those of the digital variety. We've also come to realize that we have something of an obsession with LEDs. (Clearly, some of us at Crave don't lead very interesting lives.)
But in our unfailing devotion to report all trends, especially when they converge, we feel obligated to pass this item along: Behold the LED drumsticks. While musicians interviewed by Popgadget appreciated the blue glow of their tips, they unfortunately expressed doubt over the sticks' ability to perform in "heavy hitting"--a shortcoming that would probably disqualify them for 99 percent of all known rock bands.
Still, imagine how perfect they'd look flailing around the new Gibsons and Fenders created for the latest guitar games. Not to mention all the friends you'll impress at the next rave.
A couple of us Cravers love to highlight the brightest, flashiest, and most obnoxious in raver chic gadgetry, from ice cream trucks to keyboards. Here's another one for you, as seen on Technabob. These straight-outta-Japan watches from ODM Design have an "electroluminescent display that wraps around the curvature of the watch band." Apparently U.S. residents can find them on eBay for between $80 and $90. I haven't seen any photos to show how big these actually are on wrists, but I assume they could look pretty cool if they aren't too obnoxiously big and cumbersome. I'm digging the pink one.
One of these will look great with those neon '80s-style plastic bangle bracelets that I'm sure you wear all the time.

Move over, Mr. Softee. There's a new ice cream truck in the 'hood, and it probably doesn't play that annoying jingle, either. According to Popgadget, a UK-based company called Scoop is unleashing these flashy little vehicles, which look like the Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine with a new-rave makeover, throughout London. They feature "hot lights, funky beats, and high end ice cream served in slick Chinese take out boxes." The blinged-out vans sure do look cool, and I bet they serve some pretty neat flavors (You think they'd have Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream?) On the other hand, I can see childhood-ish elation ("Yay! It's the ice cream truck!) and adult party-heartiness ("Dude, I'm soooo drunk!") to be a potentially dangerous mix. Y'know, mob scenes.
But I'd still be pretty pumped if we saw these stateside at some point in the near future.
P.S.: Today is unofficially a Party Friday here at Crave. In case you couldn't tell.

Now this is what we call a multi-colored keyboard. Other manufacturers have attempted to bring color to our fingertips, but the "Luxeed" from South Korea's Luxiium Lighting and Technology takes the concept to an entirely new level.
The ever-vigilant Chip Chick reports that each key can be personalized with one of 512 colors, "be it a single hue, a spectrum rainbow or your very own creation" downloaded from the company's Web site. The colors can even be programmed to change with the beat of your music, turning your desktop into a mini-disco. Brilliant!
We suspect that certain fellow Cravers will be particularly appreciative of this invention, as they can use it while re-creating the rave atmosphere of their misspent youth. (Raver Cravers?)
