(Credit: iLuv)As owners of the iPhone are wont to (correctly) point out, their uber-handheld obviates the need to carry a separate phone, media player, and game device. But there are plenty of us who still need to tote an employer-issued BlackBerry, prefer a plain old iPod, or just can't bear a coast-to-coast flight without a DS or PSP. For that multidevice crowd, the new iLuv iAD117 USB wall charger is an inviting choice. It crowds three USB charging ports into one compact wall wart, and offers foldable power prongs for easy travel.
The triple-ported iAD117 beats similar offerings from Belkin and Griffin, both of which offer wall and car chargers with a mere two USB ports. But the iLuv is one shy of Kensington's 4-port model. In fact, I have an OEM version of the Kensington--the Lenmar ACUSB4 AC Travel Adapter--that costs less than $20 at Amazon. Unlike the Kensington, that one also includes snap-on plug sets for international travel. It's been faithfully sitting on my desk, simultaneously charging two iPods, a phone, and a Bluetooth headset during the workday for months.
Still, 3 ports will be enough for many, and the travel-friendly foldable prongs of the iLuv are a nice feature. The iLuv iAD117 is set to debut in September for $20; the single-port iLuv iAD116 will also be available for $15.

I've always been reluctant to buy accessories for my iPhone 3G. This is because most of them are designed for a specific model of the phone (or the iPod) and would be useless when I move on to another. However, now there's something that will fit almost all Apple's handheld products.
The iMM9400 has support for thumb drive and flash storage cards, too.
(Credit: iLuv)On Wednesday, iPhone and iPod accessories maker iLuv unveiled its newest audio solution, the iMM9400. This product belongs to the company's next generation of Vertical CD/MP3 accessories for the home environment.
The iMM9400 is sleek and modern. What I like the most about it, however, is the fact that it supports a long list of Apple audio products (for both playback and charging), including the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPhone, iPod Nano first-through-fourth generations, iPod Touch, iPod Touch second generation, iPod Classic, iPod fourth generation, iPod with video, and the iPod Mini.
Other than that, it can also play back CD and compressed audio files (MP3 and WMA) and offers built-in support for SD/MMC cards and USB flash memory sticks. You can also listen to FM/AM radio with it.
This is a very versatile accessory, and one that can still be useful even if you don't have any Apple products. There's one catch, though: the hefty price tag of $250.

For those who can't wait for headphone manufacturers to incorporate iPod remote control units, help is on hand with the iLuv iEA15 adapter.
The iEA15 is an in-line remote that's compatible with recent iPod models, including the third-generation iPod Shuffle, and doesn't have any physical buttons on the unit. The in-line remote supports the VoiceOver feature found on the Shuffle, as well, but what makes this interesting is that it lets you plug in any headphone you like to your iPod and still have the convenience of a remote control.

This adapter works for the second-generation iPod Touch, fourth-generation iPod Nano, and iPod Classic. The adapter does not advertise support for the iPhone, unfortunately. Still, it's a solution if you want some control over your iPod's music and aren't willing to shell out for a better pair of $85.66 Apple in-ear headphones to replace the bundled ones, especially when there are many better models on the market today for the same price.
The iLuv iEA15 goes on sale in August with a retail price of $14.99.

The iLuv iEP515 ($59, shown above) and iLuv iEP315 ($29) both include in-line microphones, a remote clicker, and volume controls that will work with the latest crop of iPods and the iPhone 3GS. There's still no volume remote compatibility on older iPhone and iPod models, but iLuv also sells a similar set of earphones without the remote.
Aside from cosmetic differences, it's unclear what specific technical advantages distinguish one pair from the other. We do know that both models are built around a single dynamic driver and come packaged with extra ear tips.

(Credit: iLuv)Heavy sleepers rejoice. iLuv will soon be shipping an iPod clock radio that features not only dual-audio alarms but a "unique" vibrating bed shaking accessory that it claims will "wake even the deepest of sleepers."
The official name of the product is the iLuv iMM153 Desktop Dual Alarm Clock with Bed Shaker for iPod. It comes in four colors (black, blue, white, and pink) and will be shipping in July with an MSRP of $59.99. (More info here).
Personally, I'm waiting for the Desktop Dual Alarm Clock with Cattle Prod, but I guess this is a step in the right direction.

It sure doesn't take these third-party add-on makers long to slingshot off the momentum of a new iPhone announcement. The latest company to step up to the plate is iLuv, which just announced the immediate availability of a new accessory line designed specifically for the iPhone 3G S. The selection is made up almost exclusively of cases, with one car accessory thrown in for good measure. Check out the gallery for pricing and details.
Rarely do technology product titles or company names give me warm, fuzzy feelings, but there's something about iLuv that makes me smile. The accessories-maker's moniker is just so...optimistic. Also pleasing is the company's latest line of iPod-friendly extras, none of which costs more than $29.99. What can I say? I'm a sucker for colorful MP3 player trimmings that won't break the bank. But rather than drone on about the specs here, I've thrown together a gallery so you can take a closer look.
The iHD171 will be available at the end of January for $200.
