Chris Crocker's 'Britney manifesto'

He promptly put up a clip of questionable sanity in which he lay in bed, sobbing, begging us haters to "Leave Britney Alone." The video has racked up nearly 8 million views on YouTube, reaching a degree of overkill that's made many of us hope the buzz will fade away quickly or give way to some other irritating pop-culture sensation.
But don't hold your breath. That impassioned young fellow is Chris Crocker, a 19-year-old from Tennessee whose 15 minutes (seconds?) of fame just might not quite be over: Variety is reporting that a television production company, 44 Blue Productions, has inked a deal with him for a potential TV show. It's not totally serendipitous, as the entertainment site explained that Crocker has actually had a sizeable MySpace following for some time now, and that he's been on 44 Blue's radar for almost a year.
"(The show is) going to pretty much be the 'Chris Crocker experience,'" 44 Blue co-founder Rasha Drachkovitch told Variety. "We consider him a rebel character that people will find interesting. He's going to be a TV star." In other words, they're catering to the Perez Hilton demographic.

The cable channel's Video Music Awards were bad for Britney but a boon for Viacom, MTV's parent company. Users flocked to MTV.com to watch Spears' on-stage misadventures.
On Sunday, MTV.com saw 2.6 million visitors log on, a tally that smashed the site's previous record for daily Web site traffic. The site also delivered 7 million video streams on Monday as of 3:30 p.m. ET, which topped its previous best day of 6.7 million.
In a spectacle that will likely serve as an entertainment-industry cautionary tale, Spears kicked off the VMA awards with an underwhelming dance and song performance. The event was supposed to breath life back into the star's flagging career but likely fell far short of that goal.
The pudgy Spears, dressed in black bikini, flubbed her song-and-dance number by forgetting words to music she was only required to lip sync. She also lumbered across the stage with uninspired "dance" moves.

Blackberry 8800: Hollywood's latest darling.

We previously reported that Britney Spears had her trusty BlackBerry 8700 at her side during her various stints in rehab and K-Fed drama. Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan were also known to tote that version of the smart phone.
But Hollywood is a fickle beast that is concerned with the latest and greatest, and the folks over at CrackBerry are reporting that the BlackBerry 8800 is the latest in-style communication accessory.
I guess it's just a matter of time before we start seeing the BlackBerry 8300 in those paparazzi shots.

Say what you will about Britney's relationships (including the one with her hair), but there's one love where her loyalty has never wavered: her bond with the BlackBerry.
Just as it was instrumental in her final text message to K-Fed, the trusty device has never left her side through the latest rehab stint (and escape), as the paparazzi found out. And she's not alone: the BlackBerry 8700, according to GeekSugar, is apparently the smart phone of choice for scads of other celebs, from Brit-buddy Jamie-Lynn Sigler to Lindsay Lohan, Jennifer Aniston, and the ubiquitous Paris Hilton.
We're no psychologists, but we do sense some codependency issues here. So Britney, just in case, you may want to look into the various hotel programs for CrackBerry addiction.
George Clooney may be the "sexiest man alive," but is he the most searched person on the Internet?
According to Yahoo's top 10 list of the most conducted searches in 2006, Britney Spears is back on top. The pop star had fallen from interest last year, but has hit No. 1 on the list five times in six years, according to Yahoo.
Yahoo has published the Top 10 Searches of 2006 lists, which include TV shows, movies, politicians and news stories. Among sports teams, the New York Yankees were No. 1, while the Boston Red Sox came in fourth. Spider-Man 3, due out in May 2007, was the most searched movie.
Britney is not the only "lady" to capture the interest of searchers. Shakira, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Beyonce Knowles, Pamela Anderson and Lindsay Lohan, were also among the top 10 most searchable terms.
WWE, the abbreviation for World Wresting Entertainment, was second. Hip-hop singer/dancer/O.C. star Chris Brown was eighth and the only man to make the overall top 10.
