(Credit: CTA Digital)We missed this little item at E3, but apparently CTA Digital has a bowling ball accessory in the works.
The thing actually splits in half; you stick your Wiimote inside, slip the wrist strap on, and start knocking down virtual pins. We assume there are some finger holes on the other side of the ball, but we doubt the thing weighs even half as much as a real bowling ball (that would be scary).
Of course, you're not supposed let go of the ball, and CTA Digital has a rather ominous disclaimer in all caps on its site:
USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN USING THIS PRODUCT. CTA DIGITAL, INC IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE BOWLING BALL ATTACHMENT.
No word on when the accessory will be released or how much it will cost, but it is compatible with the following Wii bowling games: Wii Sports bowling, Brunswick Pro Bowling, Ten Pin Alley 2, AMF Bowling: World Lanes, and AMF Bowling: Pinbusters!
CTA Digital also makes Knockout Gloves for Wii. We're not sure if these accessories are really stupid or really cool. Comments?
The Knockout Gloves are compatible with all Wii Boxing titles.

Wii Tennis may have found a patron saint in Ralph Lauren, but the game that's really gotten everyone's attention is one of blue collars, not blue blood: bowling. So while the former prance about in their designer fashion wear, virtual bowlers are finally getting some appropriate accessories of their own--starting with the Wii Bowling Bag.
This is no cheap knockoff either, but one that's made by the ultimate name in bowling gear, Brunswick. The retro-styled bag has padded compartments that can safely tote around the console, cords, games, and Wiimote, according to Uncrate. All it needs to achieve perfection is a way to combine it with the "Wii Party Station."

(Credit: Crave Entertainment)As one the main staples of Wii Sports, Wii Bowling might soon have some competition from a new bowling game that purports to have a more realistic look. According to Crave Entertainment (no relation to this CNET's Crave.com blog), "Brunswick Pro Bowling will give players a detailed, realistic bowling-center experience, complete with authentic sights and sounds, and official Brunswick bowling gear. Brunswick Pro Bowling will be highly customizable, allowing players to choose everything from their character's appearance and accessories to ball styles." In addition to being made for the Wii, the game will be available for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable in June.
In past--and I don't know why--bowling games haven't been that good. Of course, there's a big appeal in using the Wiimote to bowl, so we're a little more optimistic about Brunswick Pro Bowling than perhaps we should be. Supposedly, the game will offer the same sort of fling-your-controller-into-your-TV experience that you get with Wii Bowling--it'll just look more true-to-life. That doesn't necessarily mean it'll be more fun. What do you think?
