The Diane von Furstenberg Sidekick
(Credit: eBay)We've seen T-Mobile Sidekicks adorned with Swarovski crystals, but now the celebrity-favored messaging phone has undergone several makeovers courtesy of top fashion designers. As part of a benefit for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, a charitable organization benefiting breast cancer research, T-Mobile invited 11 designers to customize a Sidekick 3.

(Credit: eBay)Fashion luminaries like Betsey Johnson, Diane von Furstenberg, and Tommy Hilfiger all participated and the results ranged from the oh-la-la to the ugh. And as Engadget said, there's a lot going on with the Duckie Brown entry. All of the phones were sold in eBay auctions that ended yesterday. Reed Krakoff's entry for Coach fetched the biggest price at $1,009 while David Neville and Marcus Wainwright's design for Rag & Bone won a more bargain bin price of $212.50. The remaining creations went for $300 to $500.
Is this the face of the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide/Zante?
(Credit: The Boy Genius Report)So feast your eyes on this. The Boy Genius Report has apparently scored some real-life photos of the next-gen T-Mobile Sidekick 3. Unlike previous models, the so-called Sidekick Slide (a.k.a. the Zante) is being manufactured by Motorola instead of Sharp and features a slide-up (duh, Slide) screen. No details on specs or availability just yet, but simply from a design perspective, I'm not quite sure I'm digging it. What do you guys think?
T-Mobile Sidekick 3
(Credit: CNET Networks)Attention T-Mobile Sidekick 3 owners! There are changes coming to your precious little messaging device, and you're not going to know when or how they will happen, but they're coming.
Have we freaked you out a little? Well, don't worry. These changes are a good thing.
Starting today, T-Mobile is sending out over-the-air software updates (Release 3.4) that will bring a number of new features to the device. The four most noteworthy enhancements are as follows:
- MyFaves support: This service gives you unlimited calling to five contacts. You can choose any five U.S. numbers, regardless of carrier, then have them displayed on your Today screen for easy dialing. However, this isn't a free service; you'll have a purchase a MyFaves plan, which starts at $39.99 a month.
- Active address book: Gives you one-click access to call, text, e-mail, or IM a contact directly from your address book.
- Text message character counter: To keep all you long-winded texters in check.
- Ability to save photo attachments: Allows you to save photo e-mail attachments into your photo album.
The updates will be rolled out over the course of the next month, and you'll receive a screen prompt to accept/install the update if you so choose.

"Hey Flash. I'm in Miami. What r u up 2?" "Oh, hey Paris. Just chillin' with my new Sidekick." It's no secret that the T-Mobile Sidekick 3 is a hit with Hollywood's young celebs and athletes alike. Of the latter group, it seems that Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade is such a fan that he has teamed up with T-Mobile and Danger Inc. to create a Limited Edition D-Wade Sidekick 3. It's been reported that the all-star guard personally had a hand in designing the special Sidekick, taking style hints from the interior of luxury cars and Mee-ah-mi's South Beach. The white-and-gold device is adorned with a series of 3s on the front--for Wade's jersey number, the number of years he's been in the NBA, and his "mind-bending three-point plays." The back also has a basketball-like texture and feel, but it's the same 'ol Sidekick on the inside. We're trying to confirm pricing and availability date for you, but if the D-Wade Sidekick doesn't tickle your fancy, you've always got the Diane von Furstenberg and LRG limited edition Sidekick 3s.
