Nokia 2705 Shade
(Credit: Verizon Wireless)The Nokia 2705 Shade is a new compact flip phone for Verizon Wireless. Surprisingly, you can buy the Shade with or without a camera, and you also have the choice of various Xpress-on changeable covers, which are sold separately.
Features include a 1,000-entry phone book, text and multimedia messaging, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and Bluetooth. The Shade will be available starting October 6 as an online exclusive for $29.99 with a new two-year commitment. The Xpress-on covers are available in blue, red, and purple for $19.99 at Verizon Wireless' online store as well.
To celebrate the conclusion of Kanye West's "Glow in the Dark" tour featuring Lupe Fiasco, Rihanna, and N.E.R.D., watch manufacturer Nooka will produce a very limited glow in the dark version of their popular Zub watch. When we say "very limited," we mean it--only 15 pieces were made and most of them will find their home with Kanye himself, so abandon all hope of picking up one of these unique watches. Nice to look at though, right?
The specially designed Nooka isn't the Kanye endorsed product to hit the streets for this tour. In mid-April, Pharrell Williams' bicycle company Brooklyn Machine Works presented West with an exclusive glow in the dark version of their popular "Gangsta Track" bike for the tour's opening night.

About a year ago it seemed that everyone was coming out with their own version of video glasses. Perhaps one reason their production has since slowed down was their awkward design.
Some manufacturers have tried to address this asthetic challenge, but it remains a work in progress. Now Myvu, which was one of the earlier companies in the market, is taking its products to the runway with the fashion-conscious "Myvu Crystal" and "Myvu Shades," both of which the company has just begun to ship.
The viewers have 320 x 240 resolution and include "CyberDisplay" technology, according to iLounge, with the Crystal version offering an improvement in vision field of 35 percent over previous models. Whether the new designs are enough to make them popular among fashionistas is an open question, but one never knows. They could become the gadget equivalents of the "Cadillac of Mini-Vans."

Imagine coming back from two weeks in Maui with a perfect tan, thanks to the "PODillow." The healing effects of your vacation in nirvana are rapidly fading away, and you'll do anything to salvage even a shred of that tropical antidote.
Enter the "Memory Foam MP3 Blackout Shades" from Smarthome. It won't retain that George Hamilton glow (which will please your dermatologist), but Red Ferret says you can still be "blissfully submerged" in a blend of music and soothing darkness while your MP3 player is plugged into its built-in speakers. That may be so, but we think you could save $25 and get the same effect with your iPod earbuds and a blindfold. It does have that memory foam to mold around the contours of your face, however, so you'll know if someone is sneaking a moment of bliss with your shades when you're not around.

We never thought we'd see an item worthy of as much ridicule as the solar hat fan, but this one comes close. Well, maybe not. But it's still eminently mockable.
The "Shade Blade" (classic name) is a prototype that Gizmodo says is billed as the "ultimate pair of sunglasses," presumably because of its theoretical ability to provide solar power for a variety of electronic devices. But frankly, the only thing "ultimate" we can imagine is how effectively it would function as a date repellant.

It's only been a few months since Keyspan debuted its "TuneView" remote for the iPod, and the company has already given it a serious makeover. Apparently, customers weren't too keen on the appearance of the original version, which had a gray case that made it look decidedly utilitarian.
The new model, according to iLounge, is jet black--which, as everyone knows, is Steve Jobs' color of choice in the turtleneck department. Fortunately, Keyspan kept the original $180 price and didn't tack on the cost of the new paint.

Putting one of these laptop shades on your computer might make it look like an old-school microfiche reader from the mustiest corner of your local public library, but I think it could actually serve a useful purpose. Any laptop owner knows that toting your Vaio or MacBook outside is borderline impossible because the glare from the sun renders the screen unreadable. This add-on, called CompuShade, attaches to the top of your laptop and can be unfolded when you're outside and want to block the glare out.

Plus, it can keep people from snooping! So not only can you take your laptop to the park now, you can look at your favorite naughty hentai on it too! Isn't that cool?
It costs $25. Apparently it's one size fits all, and flattens to a small enough size so that you can still put your laptop in your designer tote of choice. However, the product page says it fits laptops up to 16", so those of you with 17" MacBook Pros might not be covered. (Ha ha, pun.)
