Spracht Aura EQ
(Credit: Spracht)We last heard of Spracht with the Spracht Aura BluNote Bluetooth speaker a few months ago, but it looks like the company has ventured into the headset category with the Spracht Aura EQ.
The Aura EQ has a distinct design with angles and lines that remind us of the Egyptian pyramids. It has quite a number of features as well--dual microphones that can be switched and focused, the ability to pair with up to eight devices, a built-in six-band equalizer, and an array of ways to cancel out pesky background noise.
It also has a capacitive touch volume control (you slide your finger along the base to adjust the volume) that we're not crazy about, but it does contribute to the sleek design. The Aura HQ is estimated to be out in March for around $79 retail.

Motorola's Aura offers luxury appeal.
(Credit: Motorola)Motorola thumbed its nose at the shaky economy Tuesday when it introduced a high-end luxury cell phone called the Aura. Sporting a swivel design reminiscent of the Motorola V70 (now there's a blast from the past), the Aura features a range of unique and posh design touches.
The display supports 16 million colors and a 300dpi resolution; the skin is stainless steel and shows a textured pattern (it takes two weeks to make sculpt, etch, and polish says Moto!); the lens is made from 1.62-carat sapphire crystal; the gears are tungsten carbide coated; the finish has a mirror polish that's used on luxury watches; the keypad is aluminum; and the swivel mechanism is custom engineered with 130 precision ball bearings made by the Swiss. Now that's a lot of bling.
The Aura's features aren't nearly as impressive. Inside, you'll find a 2-megapixel camera, 2GB of user-accessible memory, a music player, stereo Bluetooth, quad-band GSM support, Moto's CrystalTalk feature, messaging, e-mail, a speakerphone, and an open-source browser. The Aura will be available in an unlocked version starting December 4. So if you're looking for a stocking stuffer, you can pre-order now for just $1,999. Now there's a bargain.

The "G-Tech Neber" chair we featured a few days ago seems ergonomically efficient, no doubt about it. But compared with the "Aura" by Poetic Technologies, it looks like a wooden stool.
Like other high-tech chairs, the Aura caters to its owner's posture: in this case, with a seven-way adjustable chair that can be ordered with inflatable and deflatable cushions. That's only the beginning. Irritated by glare? The entire workstation can be rotated up to 120 degrees. In fact, it can be programmed to rotate 120 degrees every day over eight hours to follow the sun's path--or, in a pinch, in 15 seconds.
As if that's not enough, this uber-workstation controls its own micro-climate, electronically filtering oxygen before delivery and letting its occupant change air settings up to 21.5 times per hour. If any people actually do this, however, we suggest they seriously consider bringing a sweater to work. But if they refuse, the Aura can be ordered with optional radiant heating.
At last, we can finally get rid of those "USB Warmer Gloves."

Following the announcement this morning from GM chief Rick Wagoner that Saturn plans to bring to market a plug-in hybrid vehicle, the company continued its hybrid kick with the unveiling of the 2008 Saturn Aura Green Line Hybrid here at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Aura Green Line Hybrid makes use of the same belt alternator system (BAS) technology that we recently saw in the Saturn Vue Green Line Hybrid, and will deliver a 25 percent increase in fuel economy over the gasoline-only Aura, according to Saturn representatives.

Production of the Aura Green Line Hybrid is scheduled to begin in March 2007, and the car is expected to have a base price less than $23,000. While the BAS is entry-level hybrid technology, it represents just the first stage in GM's move toward alternative drivetrain technology: the automaker also used the first morning of the L.A. Auto Show to show off the GMC Yukon Hybrid, which will use GM's next-generation two-mode hybrid system.
