The Samsung Behold makes its debut.

(Credit: Samsung)

As we told you last week, the Samsung Behold (aka the SGH-T919) officially went on sale Monday at T-Mobile. You can get it for $149 in two colors: espresso (brown) or rose (pink).

Just as we're dishing this news, a review model of the Behold landed on our desk. We'll give it a full shakedown tomorrow, but off the bat we can report that the glossy touch-screen phone has a sleek design. It may not have a particularly unique style, but it is attractive and has a nice feel in the hand. What's more, the display is bright and vibrant.

Features include Samsung's TouchWiz interface, a 5-megapixel camera with flash and video capture, a full Web browser, stereo Bluetooth, a speakerphone, organizer features, a microSD-card slot, and GPS. Also, in addition to being a quad-band world phone, the Behold is compatible with T-Mobile's 3G network.

Stay tuned for a full review.

The following product mentioned is available.

On Sale Now: $64.99

I thought that too before getting a new phone. Then I got the LG Vu about a month ago and realized that it doesn't matter. With 3g speeds, fast browsing can be achieved anywhere and I never need Wi-fi.

Well, it does have build in WIFI. This phone is everything I've been waiting for in a phone...wifi, bluetooth, organizer, speakerphone, mms, full web browser, nice camera (video too), media player, touch screen...ALL except.... nice screen resolution. I believe the specs are 3.2 Inch TFT touchscreen (65K colors, 240 x 400 pixels)...were as my iPod touch (and to those with the iPhone) can enjoy the 3.5 Inch Touchscreen (16M colors, 320 x 480 pixels).

We'll see how the review goes!!

I have been looking for a relatively cheap yet styling touch phone, I might consider this after a thorough review from you folks at Cnet.

It's a great phone, much better than the Samsung Instinct, I personally played with the phone when I was in T-Mobile, there's already a fans website out there at http://www.Samsung-Behold.com with a lot of good info to help you make the right decision.

I've had this phone just a few hours and have already discovered an extremely annoying bug in the software. How many bugs will I discover after using it for a few days or weeks?

The bug I've discovered is with the address book. I typed in information for a contact and used the address1 line, the address2 line, city, state, and zip. Pressed the Save button. The address displays as follows: address2, address1, zip code, city, state. This information is all run together on 2 lines of display. For those of you who have Beholds --- try it. It makes reading the address rather difficult.

I called Tmobile and those who had Beholds pulled them out, input addresses and came up with the same problem. They agreed that the phone has problems with the phone book software. I, apparently, have the honor of being the first one to notice it.

Today I called Samsung - they refused to look at the issue. They told me that I should send the phone back to them, they'd take a look at it and if they could find a problem, they'd fix it. WHAT!!!?!?!?! I have this phone on a 30 day trial, but they want me to incur the costs of the shipping and the loss of the use of the phone. The customer service rep said that she doesn't want to look at one of the Company's Beholds --- they'd rather irritate the customer.

Finally a supervisor, came on --- tested a Behold (or pretended to) and came up with the same problem. Of course, the call center is in India (although she wouldn't confirm that fact) and she stated that is how the address works on their phone book. She then stated that I should send my phone in. When I asked her "why", she had no response other than that they could look at the phone. When I asked about a Firmware update, she stated that they would probably fix the bugs that they were aware of with the next release of the phone. I asked again about a software update and she was ambivalent about one being prepared at all.

Needless to say their attitude about fixing software bugs is worrisome. Their customer service is NOT good. I'm most likely going to return this phone unless Samsung comes out with a firmware fix ASAP. If anyone else is interested in this phone ----- wait until the software updates are available.

Ugggh I hate this phone. I thought T-Mobile finally got a decent phone. But this is such a buggy phone. The e-mail app doesn't work with my Gmail or Yahoo, the keyboard sometimes hangs up, leaving you to keep tapping the same button until you have like 20 "L"s. Also, i cannot download games to the darn thing! I tried to download Spielberg Boom Blox and that worked for an hour before it said my subscription was up, even though I bought the full version. Then, I after T-Mobile refunded me and said they thought it was the application's problem, I bought Dirt Racing. It wouldn't let me download that either. Will call T-Mobile for a refund on this game as I take this phone back and get a boring but more dependable Windows or Blackberry device.

i just got this phone and i think it is great! That other guy is right. Who cares if a couple tiny bugs are in the software for the address book and games. that will get sorted out shortly if you are really into the phone for the adress book and the games. blah blah blah. This phone is very cool and would recommend to anyone!

I love this phone. I have had it for a couple of weeks now. I have only had a couple problems. Problem number 1 text messaging it takes me a long time to text message with this phone because they put the letters so close together that I end up pressing the wrong letter. They do have a handy feature with the text messaging that gives you the option of t9. Which is okay but I still have problems sometimes with that too. I am sure once I have the phone longer I will get better at the text messaging. They other problem well not really problem but frustration is the camera when I take pictures they are either really white or really dark I cant get a good balance. I have had my friend who is a camera expert look at it and mess with it and she got it alot better but it still is not the greatest. I can say that it is alot better than when I owned my blackberry pearl. The camera on that sucked and the zoom never worked.
They only other problem I have had is when I am done with a phone conversation I hang up and it does hang up but the phone conversation screen does not go away for like a min, I sit there hitting the end button over and over until I give up and then a few seconds later it goes away. I also think that the charger kinda sucks so I always feel like im going to break it.

With those few problems I would still say that I love this phone I still have a couple of things to figure out. I do hope that they come out with an update soon to fix the bugs. But what can you expect with such a new phone.
The whole time I had my blackberry I had to update it like 6 times and it sucked. It took like an hour to do it would take everything off and then put everything on. I had to re buy games and everything.
I have used allot of phones mostly samsung. They have always been great.

I have the phone for quite awhile and ignored the minor bugs and all (losing calls when swapping one call to the other, screens hang sometimes) until now....the touch screen feature suddenly stopped working...as in totally. It started like some electrical interference and the screen get flicking on and off like I was pressing buttons continuosly....and now I can't even make or use any of the widgets regardless of how many times I restart the darn thing. And no...I don't want to lose my numbers/call-log by doing a hard-reset.

I like everything about the phone especially the touch screen! I just got about 3 days ago BUT the only thing I seem to be having trouble with is the signal. I never had trouble with signal with my other phone...I'm gonna take it in and see if its just my phone. Anyone else have the same problem?...I would hate to turn it in and get a completely different phone cause this one rocks but what's the use if there's no signal.

This phone is garbage! My first one would go completely black during a call or would flicker the screen when trying to use the touchscreen during a call. The phone would shut itself off during a call. My new one does everything the old one does with a bonus. This phone also changes my settings on it's own, shuts down without being touched, and will not make even make a call even with a full signal at my apartment or workplace. Now I have a third replacement on the way. I got the Behold because T-mobiles phone selection is pathetic and it seemed they finally got a cool phone. I was so wrong. Stay away from the Behold it is junk!!!!!!!

there is a light sensor on the phone. those two dots next to the speaker, they are the light sensors. if you cover them while you are on a call, the screen will go blank. this happens so that when you put the phone against your face, you do not accidentally press buttons. it took me about 3 calls to figure that out. i hope you dont keep getting exchanges for a feature on the phone designed to help you. i work for tmobile, if you were my customer, i would put you on hold and laugh at you
