Apple's Black Friday deals
(Credit: Apple)Update: The promotion is now live on the U.S. Apple Store site.
Apple will be holding a one-day shopping event on Black Friday, according to a teaser up on Apple's Web site. Every sale on the Apple Store is an event, as it happens very rarely, and discounts on Apple products are meager throughout the year. That is, if this is an event full of discounts and sales. The interesting part is in the wording:
"Come back to the Apple Online Store this Friday for a special one-day-only Christmas shopping event. You'll find dozens of great iPod, iPhone and Mac gift ideas - all with free delivery."
However, anyone who is familiar with how Apple works, one would surmise that Apple is referring to iPhone accessories as the "gift ideas" and not the device itself.
Furthermore, and not to play devil's advocate here, but this teaser is for an Apple Online Store sale. Not to mention that this promotion is only up on the New Zealand Apple Store currently, as MacRumors notes -- but it will undoubtedly be up for other parts of the world as well soon.
Although, Apple isn't specific as to what products they will offer at this "special one-day event" on Friday, the symbol on the teaser page pretty much contains all Apple products. Most likely, one of the products that Apple will offer hot deals on would be the iMac as it wasn't updated this fall and new iMacs should be coming early 2009.
In the meantime, Best Buy currently offers $50-$150 discounts on Apple Computers.

Oh, you mean the generic stone-age PC systems running Vista?
I wouldn't consider THAT a deal.
What I would consider a deal is a computer that works, you know, a Mac.
When I bought my 2nd Mac (Black Macbook) last summer, I did consider a PC notebook, but when (as a consumer) I compared value -versus- price, the value of a quality built computer with the world's most advanced operating system bundled together made my decision an easy one.
Mac is the best, believe it.

I noticed last year during the entire holiday shopping season, not a single Apple product went on sale.
Interestingly, every Apple store in Manhattan (there are three) was packed with crowds.
Why?
Why buy anything during the holidays that's not on sale at a discount price?
I feel like a fool for switching to the Mac, knowing very well I will never save a dime as long as I am a Mac person.
This is sad because the #1 reason people prefer a Windows PC -versus- an Apple Mac is PRICE.
Now that Apple stock value is on a decline, I am hoping they sense a trend here.
I am willing to predict that the moment Microsoft gets their act together and builds a stable operating system, half of all Mac users will switch back.
Apple has become Microsoft: A big evil company that only sees dollar signs.
As for which system is more fun?
Honestly, most consumers feel it's more fun to save money.
Imagine if you can save money on something that you need.
Do you ever purchase an automobile without negotiating the price?
Do you enjoy paying sticker price?
As a consumer, this is a big deal, especially in this economy.
If I were you, I wouldn't generalize or stereotype all Apple customers.
Most of us are not "fanboys"; rather, we are "consumers".
As a consumer, I appreciate no Windows viruses and related issues and I don't miss the daily updates to patch the operating system.
I think I'll get in line right now...
Apple sucks. Anyone who buys anything from them is a sheep who enjoys walking through life with a "kick me" sign on their backs.
Apple really sucks.

- Wow.. these deals were terrible. Student and Federal Employee discounts are MUCH CHEAPER then this. This is just like Sony who decided they were not going to lower the PS3 for the holiday. How about some real deals.
