Yahoo upholds Firefox avatar pledge

Yahoo has quietly updated its Instant Messenger software to be fully compatible with Firefox, almost three months after it pledged to do so. Yahoo introduced avatars to its Messenger service in April 2004, when it completely revamped the service to include more graphics and animation. However, users could only customize their avatars using Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser.

Late last year, Mozilla launched the full version of its Firefox browser, which has made dents in IE's market share. In February, Yahoo openly showed its support for Firefox by launching a toolbar for the open-source browser. A month later Yahoo pledged to make avatars available to Firefox users, but did not specify when that would happen.

Munir Kotadia of ZDNet Australia reported from Sydney.

I expect a Yahoo Messenger Update for the Mac aproximately the
same time Apple switches to Intel.

Of course no new features will be added to Yahoo Messenger to the
Mac it will just become a universal binary.

in an email from yahoo "we are working on it" is all I got out of
them, and it seems they are "working on it" for years now, perhaps
they have only worker coding for the mac it he is truely a yahoo!
