Yahoo plays up fantasy games

Internet portal Yahoo says it has inked a deal with sports media company SportingNews.com to enrich its fantasy sports games with in-depth news coverage and analysis for professional football, basketball, baseball and hockey. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Under the deal, the two companies will market free and for-fee fantasy games to each other's users. The games will be bolstered by material from SportingNews.com including commentary and analysis, draft content such as player rankings and weekly lineups, and real-time game scoring and statistic standings.

The deal expands an existing partnership between Yahoo and SportingNews.com, which provides editorial for Yahoo's Sports page. The first new project the two companies will produce together is fantasy baseball expected in mid-February.
