Yahoo media exec steps into new role

Jim Moloshok, Yahoo's former head of media and entertainment, will no longer run day-to-day operations of those businesses and instead will focus on advertising and content deals with Hollywood studios and media outlets, company spokeswoman Joanna Stevens confirmed Wednesday. She said the company plans to hire someone to oversee its media and entertainment.

Moloshok, a Warner Bros. veteran who worked closely with Yahoo CEO Terry Semel during the chief's studio days, joined Yahoo in 2002 to bolster properties such as news, finance, sports, music, movies, TV and games, to name a few. His ambitious project to launch a subscription video service, called Yahoo Platinum, lasted eight months before it was scrapped.
