Xdrive adds music streamed to phones

Online storage company Xdrive is setting its sights on the multimedia market, offering streaming music capabilities to its subscribers for the first time. The company, which allows subscribers to store gigabytes of data online, said its customers can now upload MP3 files, create playlists, and stream that music to PCs or smart phones that support Web surfing and music playback.

The online music locker concept was popular toward the end of the dot-com boom, but most of the companies offering the service were causalities of the bust. A surge in interest in using mobile phones to listen to music has helped revitalize the idea, however.

I hope to acknowledge interest on behalf of radio-listening consumers:

Desired (selected) features on a cell phone:

1> Capability to receive/tune into both AM and FM stereo radio (ie. off-the-air) to listen over stereo headsets of our cellular handsets. AM broadcast is (still) in many regions a good source of current local news/traffic/weather/talk/etc.; FM is what my Mom needs. (Only FM band reception products are available, so far, why not AM band? ):

Back on News topic, looks like an good move by X-Drive..
